Spring Break in Arkansas

Last week we went to Arkansas during Matthew's Spring Break. We had a wonderful trip and were busy the whole time! Poor Nana had broken her arm the week before but she insisted we still come...I think her grandkids were just the distraction she needed! Here is a recap of our week.

Day One:
We got to Nana and Papa Doc's house on Tuesday afternoon. Papa Doc had gotten the grandkids a new battery operated four wheeler to ride. Matthew was so excited and it was the first thing he saw when we pulled up. The rest of the afternoon and evening was spent playing outside and riding on all the toys. It was so nice to have a wide open space for the kids to run around. You just don't get that in the city! The kids were exhausted when it was bedtime and slept like angels!

Day Two:
On Wednesday morning we headed to Little Rock to see the great grandparents. We had a wonderful visit with Mamaw Ann and Papaw Don that morning. Molly warmed right up and was into everything! Papaw knew Matthew liked pretzels and suprised him with a huge bag of pretzels. I think everyone enjoyed munching on those...even Molly. After a few hours of playing, we headed to US Pizza to meet Papa Doc, Nana, Aunt Kara, and Ben for lunch...Yum! While Nana and Papa Doc went to the orthopedic doctor, Kara and I took the kids over to our grandparents house, Memaw and Papa Harrington. Molly was getting tired, so she was a little fussy near the end of our visit there. Papa played ball with the kids and Matthew enjoyed an icecream sandwich while he was there. Those great grandparents just know how to make a kid happy! We had a wonderful day and went back to Nana and Papa Doc's for the evening. Matthew, Molly and I even got to visit my best friend's parents and her kids (Cici, Pops, Jayden, Kyler, and Evan). We searched for frogs, played on the swingset, met Coco (the dog), and got to see the treehouse. I still can't believe between Kara, Melissa, and I we have 7 boys and 1 girl!

Day Three:
A much needed day without a car ride! We stayed at Nana and Papa Doc's and Kara brought the kids down for the afternoon and spent the night. The kids were so excited to see each other and spent the majority of the day outside. After pizza, baths and air hockey with Papa Doc we decided to let the boys sleep together. I think this was one of the highlights of the trip for Matthew! They did relatively well, except for the fact that they were up at 5:10 am.

Day Four:
We spent the night with Richard's family in Hot Springs and had a wonderful time. Mamaw Shelia and Papaw Guy had everyone over for pizza. We got to see Mamaw Ball, Papaw Curtis, Aunt Ashley, Uncle Allan, Madisson, Alleigh, and baby Abby. This was my first time to meet sweet Abby and she is just precious. The kids helped Papaw work in the garden and they each got to plant a jalepeno plant. Molly was attached to Papaw Guy most of the time and would cry for him when she got hurt...so cute! Mamaw surprised Matthew with an Easter basket full of goodies, so he was entertained with that for quite a while...thanks Mamaw! When it came time for bed, Matthew asked Mamaw and Papaw if he could sleep with them. I don't know how much sleep they got, but Matthew sure loved it!

This was Molly right after she fell...she just wanted Papaw

Day Five:
Nate and Zac had their "Camo" birthday party in Glenwood. Matthew had been waiting all week for this day and was thrilled it was finally here! He proudly wore his camo and stuck by Nate's side during the whole party. The party was so cute...way to go Aunt Kara! The kids had fun shooting coke cans with a dart gun and playing "ring toss" on the deer antlers. They snacked on deer food (whoppers) and fishing bait (gummy worms). Molly had a blast playing in the deer blind and riding in the cars. After the party we all went to Aunt Kara and Uncle Tim's house on the river. Uncle Tim helped them shoot the bow and arrow and took the kids canoeing and fishing. Matthew thought it was the greatest! While they were canoeing, I was going to rest in the hammock...wish I had a picture of me laying on the ground after the hammock broke. It was quite funny, but I am glad no one saw! Papa Doc took Matthew to Atwoods when we got back to their house. This is a must-do every time we go to Arkansas! He also took Molly and Matthew on several mule rides...another great day!

Molly also loves her Papa Doc...she even chose him over me a few times!

Day Six:
After a fun-filled week, it was time to head back to Dallas to see daddy! Papa Doc and Nana played with the kids outside and got them all tired for me before we headed home. It was a great trip and I am so thankful we got to see everyone. Thanks to each and every one of you for making our week so special! By the way...Nana and Mamaw Shelia - where were you in all of the pictures? Somehow you escaped my lens!
