July 4th at Marble Falls

We spent the 4th of July at Horseshoe Bay in Marble Falls, Texas. We had a great week and enjoyed lots of swimming, yummy food and fireworks. Matthew participated in several of the kids activities, including a banana boat ride on the lake, playing laser tag with daddy, racing ducks down the creek, making handprint stepping stones, watching a movie on a big screen at the pool one night and making smores. He had a big time!
On the way to Marble Falls we decided to go to Fossil Rim Wildlife Center. If you haven't ever been, we highly recommend it! Fossil Rim has a scenic wildlife drive that is 9.5 miles long and takes about 3 hours to complete. You can feed the animals along the way and they come right up to your car. Matthew and Molly thought it was great. We couldn't believe all of the wildlife we saw up close and personal! At one point, a zebra was eating our turn signal and we had to start closing the window to get him out. I almost got a peck on the nose from an ostrich (yes, they are VERY aggressive!) and Richard had deer slobber all over his pants. We laughed so much and had a wonderful experience there. It was a great way to break up the drive and enjoy seeing some beautiful animals. All in all, it was a great trip and we enjoyed having some family time away!

The crazy ostrich that nearly got me!

Yes, this Barbary sheep is attempting to eat our car mirror

I was laughing too hard to get a picture of the zebra eating our turn signal, but here he is just before he went for it!

We ate lunch at the Overlook Cafe there in the park

We didn't do a good job of taking pictures once we were there, so this was taken on the last day just before we were leaving!

Matthew loved racing rubber ducks down this little creek. Seriously, the race took about 30 seconds and we stayed for a whole hour so he could keep doing it over and over!

This is Molly with her race duck

Here is Matthew swimming. He has become quite the little swimmer this summer!
