5th Grade Trip to Sky Ranch!

The highlight of elementary school at Town Center is the 5th grade trip to Sky Ranch!  Sky Ranch is a Christian camp in east Texas with lots of fun activities.  I went along as a chaperone this year and got to stay in one of the girls cabins (there is a little more drama with the girls, but I think the volume level is lower!).  We all met at the school on Wednesday morning and loaded the buses at 8:30am.  We were at Sky Ranch and settled in by lunch!  While at Sky Ranch, the kids still have classes but they are taught by the Sky Ranch instructors outdoors at various places throughout the camp.  The kids built and launched rockets, had Mr. Potato head races down a zipline (changing the mass each time and recording the time), found insects in the pond and identified them, learned about animals and got to pet some of them, learned about composting, and much, much more!  Every 30 minutes or so the groups were moving to another location to learn about something else, so it kept their attention!  During afternoon free time the kids got to swim, zipline, go down waterslides, play dodgeball, go to the snack shack and much more.  Of course, that was their favorite time of the day.  During the evening of the first night, the kids played "Clue".  They had to go around to five different people that were dressed up and figure out who did what, when, where and why. Super fun!  The next night we had campfire and skits.  Matthew's group pretended to be the girls - they were actually quite funny!  All in all, it was a great 3 days with my boy!  So glad I got to go be a part of it.  5th grade is almost over...love the young man Matthew is becoming (and he is super fun to be with)!
