Chief Williams organized a visit to two local nursing homes for the Girls Choctaw tribe last week. Molly was so excited and couldn't wait to go sing at the nursing home. The girls were supposed to bring cookies to leave for the residents at the first nursing home. Molly and I spent the afternoon baking cookies and making sure they had lots of sprinkles. Just before time to go, Molly dressed in her Christmas shirt and made sure she had her reindeer antlers on...she was ready to go! When they got to the first nursing home, they visited, sang Christmas carols and left their Christmas goodies for all to enjoy. Before heading to the second nursing home, the tribe met up at a local yogurt shop for some delicious yogurt! I think they all enjoyed this little stop before heading out again! At the second nursing home, the girls sang carols and brought placemats for the nursing home to laminate and use every Christmas with the residents. Many of the ladies picked the girls up in their laps and kissed them. Chief Williams said the girls did great and sure seemed to put smiles on all their faces. They even got to sing "Happy Birthday" to a lady that turned 103 that day! I am so thankful these girls had this opportunity with their dads. What a wonderful way to teach them about caring for others...especially during the holiday season when it can get lonely for them. So proud of the job Richard did with this service project.
