Christmas seemed to come so fast this year! There never seems to be enough time to fit all the fun activities in...but we sure tried! Highlights of the season included the return of our elf, Dodie, tubing at the Gaylord and attending the amazing Christmas production at our church. We also started a new tradition this year...an advent type activity called, "A Meaningful Christmas". Each night the kids would take turns opening an ornament. Each ornament had something to do with the true meaning of Christmas and a devotional we would read along with it. The kids really looked forward to it and hopefully it helped a little in keeping our focus on the true reason why we celebrate.
For the first time in fifteen years, we actually woke up on Christmas morning in our home! We love spending the holidays in Arkansas, but it was definitely a treat to get to wake up in our home and call the cousins to "see what they got from Santa"! On Christmas Eve we attended the 3:00 pm Christmas Eve service at our church. It was a beautiful service and ended with the whole church being lit up by candles and everyone singing "Silent Night". Simply beautiful. Definitely kept your mind focused on the celebration of the birth of Christ. After the service we ordered pizza, watched a Christmas movie, baked Santa's cookies and sprinkled reindeer food all over the front lawn! We also left some carrots out front in case the reindeer were extra hungry. When it was time for bed, the kids made pallets and slept together. It took a little while to setting down with all the anticipation of what Santa would bring!

We got up around 7:00am and headed down to see what Santa had brought! Matthew was thrilled with his Xbox One and Molly couldn't believe she got her Glitzy Globes! Molly also got her first big American Girl doll. Her name is Molly.
Molly was anxiously awaiting to see if Matthew liked the gift she picked out for him. It was a basketball goal that fits over the door. Always a hit.
After all the gifts had been opened and we were cooking breakfast, Matthew noticed a gift that was stuck up on the roof! Santa must have dropped it out of his sleigh when he was delivering our gifts! Daddy climbed up and got it. How cool is that?!
Richard had the kids decorate one of my presents from them. So cute. I love it when they make things for me. So special :)

We spent the rest of the day in our pajamas playing with toys, setting up the Xbox and just enjoying being together with nowhere to go! After a great Christmas in Texas, we packed up and headed to Arkansas for more Christmas with family!
