Papa Harrington

Papa Harrington passed away on Wednesday, February 25, 2015 at 98 years old.  What a blessing he has been to all of us and the "Rock" and the cornerstone of our family.  When papa passed away, all four of his kids and spouses had been with him constantly for the few weeks leading up to his passing.  What more could anyone ask for?  He was loved.  Loved like you wouldn't believe.  I never heard of anyone that had a bad word to say about papa.  He was kind, generous, loving, compassionate, God-filled, funny, talented and so much more!  The kids and I talk all the time about what he must be doing in Heaven.  I can't even imagine the welcome he received when he arrived!  I know he heard the words, "Well done, my good and faithful servant".  Papa preached and tried to lead others to Christ up until the day he died.  They told the story at his memorial about him telling a nurse that he was going to be okay because he knew where he was going and what was waiting for him.  He asked her if she knew where she would go.  Papa had struggled the past few months and was ready for his Heavenly home, but hung on because he didn't want to leave memaw...the love of his life.  They shared a really special love and bond.  He was her "Rock" and she was his "Honey".  Even over the last few years as they lived in separate places at Parkway, they would light up as soon as they would see each other. They would always hold hands and kiss.  Such a mutual love and respect could be seen by all.  In his final days, everyone reassured papa that memaw would be taken care of and that she would be fine.  I know she misses him but what a blessing she knows where he is.  She even told mom that she knew he would be waiting for her there.  I feel like the luckiest girl in the would to have had my papa for the past 38 years.  He gave me the greatest gift of all...he helped lead me to Christ, baptized me and his legacy lives on through my children.  They have both asked Jesus to be their Lord and Savior because of what he started in our family.  Love you with all my heart papa!
