Fun in the Sun (except for the stitches...)

Last week we went to Florida for a family vacation! We spent the week with Kara, Tim, Nate, Zac, Ben, Nana and Papa Doc. My Aunt Mary and Uncle Jim drove in from Louisiana and joined us for the first few days - we had so much fun with them and were so glad they came! Richard, Matthew, Molly and I decided to drive through the night, so we left Sunday night around 7:00 p.m. and arrived in Pensacola around 6:00 a.m. The kids did great! Molly actually slept the entire trip...lucky, I know! The rest of the crew arrived later that afternoon and you can only imagine the excitement...these kiddos have been looking forward to this trip since last year! The first night we were there proved to be an eventful one. We all went to dinner and enjoyed feeding the fish from the dock, watching the kids play, and enjoying some seafood! After dinner, Aunt Mary and Uncle Jim decided that the older boys should go crabbing. Nate and Matthew had a blast. No crabs the first night, but we did get one the second night (thanks to some little boys that gave one to us!). The boys also enjoyed swimming in the pool while it was dark. All was going well until we were headed in for the night. Matthew was walking up some concrete stairs and slipped. Poor baby! He bit his tongue and had a pretty nice gash in his chin. We spent the next 4 hours at the ER getting stitches...5 in his chin. He was a trooper and didn't even cry (thanks to numbing gel instead of shots!). The rest of the week was spent building sandcastles, sitting on the side of the pool, and getting his feet wet in the ocean...he couldn't get his chin wet for risk of infection. He never complained and enjoyed playing with his cousins.

Molly really enjoyed the water and loved relaxing in her floatie! She also liked taking naps under the umbrella down by the ocean! She wasn't the only one that liked sleeping under the umbrella...Papa Doc got in a snooze or two also!

The boys also enjoyed their batman pajamas. They wore them the night we stayed at the hotel and ordered pizza...they enjoyed showing them off! How cute are they?

Molly and Ben were buddies during the week. Ben can sit up all day long and Molly prefers army crawling. It was so funny to watch them take toys from each other and just to watch them studying each other! Kara and I even got to swap babies for a while!

All in all, it was a great week. We could have done without the stitches, but had a blast anyway! We are already looking forward to the trip next year! Here are some more pics from the trip.
