The kids and I headed to Arkansas two days after our Pensacola trip. It was a quick turnaround, but so worth it! On Sunday morning the kids and I got up early and left Texas around 6:30am to make it in time for lunch with Papaw Guy and Mamaw Shelia. Ashley and the girls were able to make it too, so it was great spending time with them as well. Papaw didn't tell Mamaw we were coming and it was so refreshing to see her reaction. She was so surprised and thrilled to see us. She recognized us immediately and waved us over for hugs. She looked great. We all enjoyed lunch at Colton's and then headed to Southerlands to walk around and shop before Mamaw had to go back. We are so proud of Mamaw and all of her hard work and so extremely thankful for Papaw and the love and care he shows Mamaw. Truly inspiring. As I write this post Mamaw is now back home for good and enjoying every minute while continuing to work hard. Love you guys!
After we left Papaw Guy and Mamaw Shelia, we drove to Hot Springs to see Mamaw Ball and Uncle Larry. We always love our time with them and enjoyed catching up on the "happenings" in the family. After we left her house we went to Aunt Ashley's house to visit a little more and see all of her animals. The kids think it is awesome how many pets they have (5 dogs, 4 cats, 1 ferret...I think). Before we headed to Aunt Kara's, we went to Papaw Guys and spent a little more time there and checked out his garden. We left with some fresh cucumbers and some candy!
The next two days and nights were spent at Aunt Kara's house on the river. Matthew and Molly couldn't wait for a little "river time"! We spent both days turtle hunting, fishing and boating on the river. I loved relaxing and just enjoying the scenery. Aunt Kara was a great hostess, as always! We kept her company while Uncle Tim was having a little fun in Colorado with his brother.
On Tuesday we left Aunt Kara's house and went to spend time with Nana. Papa Doc was on his motorcycle trip, so we thought we would keep her company! Nana took us to the "Bluff", a side trip to the bookstore at Ouachita, lunch at Burger Barn and a trip to Walmart. Between Burger Barn and Walmart, you are quite likely to see someone you know. Sure enough...I did. I got to catch up with a good friend from high school and a good friend from college. Between the three of us we have ten kids...crazy!
On Thursday we all went to Little Rock to celebrate Memaw's 91st birthday! We had a full house with Uncle Russ, Aunt Donna, Mar-Mar, Ashleigh, Kara, Brooks, Cole, the Oosterhous boys and my two. I think Memaw had a great time and enjoyed her cake! Afterwards, all of us (except Memaw, Papa and Ashleigh) went to eat at US Pizza...definitely one of my favorites! It was great getting to catch up and spend time with everyone.
When we left lunch, the Williams crew headed to Mamaw Ann and Papaw Don's house for a little fun! Papaw Curtis and Little Bit were also there, so my kids were quite entertained! Poor Little Bit was probably ready to rest when we left. After lots of visiting and reminiscing, we headed back to Nana's house to pack up for our trip back to Texas! We sure packed a lot into our week and enjoyed every minute of it! We love Arkansas and our family!
